Show #006: A Moderate Amount of Fun

The sixth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online. (For reals this time)

In this episode, we commemorate Acknowledgment Day (September 2nd) and announce “Whedon Watch” and “McCartney Watch,” celebrate the return of Paul’s laptop, discuss Storm’s living situation and puppetry skills, and recap the phenomenon that is FunModCon. Plus, passive-aggressiveness carries the day.

Outro music: “Carry Me Back to Old Virginny” – Tom-Terry Trio; “I Wonder Who My Daddy Is” –  Eileen Fulton

Couldn’t you call September 2nd just the day of Felicia, or “Felicia Day”, or “Felicia Day Day” or “Felicia Day²”? That’s right, an algebra joke.

I would suggest to do the song about Albert Hoffman – the Swiss scientist who invented LSD. He died in 2008 at the age of 102.

I sure hope this comes to pass. I can’t wait to drive 1600 miles at the thought of having a moderate amount of fun! I’m still pushing for the HD Movie Sit-a-thon and Low Impact Shuffleboard. And not to be too picky, but I think Fatty Nano isn’t having quite enough fun. He’s borderline depressed.

Fun Mod Con is a good idea, but only if you take it to the extreme of making it REAL. An imaginary Convention is just a Con.

Look into reserving a picnic shelter for 5 nonconsecutive days next July. What would it cost to rent a Legion Hall or Knights of Columbus for five days? MaxFunCon sounds cool, but it’s too far away, too expensive and just too much fun.

I would like a moderately priced convening within a days drive that wouldn’t strain the fun neurons in my tiny pea brain. Are you committed to 5 nonconsecutive days? Because that’s a funny joke, when you are talking about an Imaginary Convocation. But that’s a logistical nightmare in reality, pretty convoluted. How about just ONE nonconsecutive day of Moderate Fun. There could be a 90 minute lunch break in there. There might be a pot luck dinner in the evening! No wait, make lunch pot luck. And have the break for dinner. You don’t want to eat Tuna Noodle Casserole that’s been sitting around all day.
