Rock Band Network – What Songs?

So we’re in the process of trying to get some of our music up on the Rock Band Network.

The question is, what song(s) should be there? We can’t put them all upโ€”that would take too long, and several of them are not very good. And some songs, while fun, are not very “Rock Band”-able. (For example, “The Captain’s Wife’s Lament” and “Nun Fight“, while a blast, are mostly just vocals, making things very boring for the people playing bass and drums)

So we turn to you, dear readers: please take a minute to look at the following poll. We’ve chosen a few of what we think are our most RB-friendly songs; let us know which (if any) you’d like to see on the Rock Band Network. Or feel free to suggest other songs. (Only ones we’ve written, please)

UPDATE: Please note, “Opening Band” is already available on Rock Band.

Nun Fight would be perfect if only it could run under Beatles Rock Band, where vocal harmony is supported ๐Ÿ™‚

Also: What about Cruel Cruel Moon?

All of the songs are great, but as far as translating well to the Rock Band game, I think Your Town works the best.

Plus, imagine irony of millions of people all over the nation (world even) singing about a rock band coming to a generic “your town” and thinking it is awesome. It is like a Moebius strip looping back on itself, it could cause a black hole to form!

You’d have to have two versions of “The Captain’s Wife’s Lament”: The “album version” and then the 13-minute “live version” (PDX?) where you can get all your drunk friends to do “dejected arrr” together.

“Nugget Man” is winning? wtf? My preference list is; “Frogger”, Captain’s Wife”, and “Lullabye”. They are AWESOME, and anyone that disagrees gets a kick in the balls. ๐Ÿ™‚ nonotreally

Opening Band would be a perfect way to start a set.

Clearly not enough people have actually heard “Your Love Is”. Go listen, people, then come back and correct your vote!

Opening Band is on there already. ๐Ÿ™‚ and omg is it hard to hit and hold that end note.

I would purchase any song you put on the game. I do agree the songs that use all instruments would be best.

It looks like people are voting for their favorite songs, as opposed to the songs that would be most fun to play on Rock Band…

Me Make Fire. You can never perform it live, but you could probably have a crapload of fun mapping one of the guitars to the horn section.

You know how whenever someone plays Bon Jovi at a party everyone joins in? Me Make Fire could be like that, if for an audience 1% the size.

Is it weird that I got that nostalgic punch to the gut when I saw Six Guys, Ten Teeth?
You know, that “Oh yeah, remember THAT one?”

Come on, loyal minions! “Your Town” is the perfect Rock Band song! It needs more votes.

    And “Live” is just cool.

Any song would be good. The more the better. I’d also really like to see some Da Vinci’s Notebook songs, especially “Title of the Song” and “Enormous Penis.” I don’t care that they were a capella; I’m sure they would convert well.

This is a tough one. I think you really need songs that use all the instruments and show off exactly what P&S are really “about”

When I want to convince to come to one of your shows, I tend to play stuff that highlights your piano and a capella stuff. Nugget Man is a great example of that.

Opening Band was a great choice for the first rock band song, but I really don’t know what to suggest for a follow up. I’ll probably buy anything you guys put up there, though. I’ve already bought everything JoCo has put up ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m right with The Public on this one – what Rock Band needs are more a capella songs, and Enormous Penis would fit right in there.
Also, since I already used my “other” vote, I want to plug at least one of the Randy Newman themes – I would prefer Passion of the Christ, but I’m not too picky. That would, however, really strike a chord with great masses of the American public, I guarantee it.

Oh, DEFINITELY “Nugget Man.” I think “Your Love Is” would have my friends who I have not, as of yet, been able to trap in the car while playing your CD, missing a few notes every time as they simultaneously burst out laughing and try to say “wtf is this?!”
