New T-Shirt: We Need Your Help!

We have been thinking about a new t-shirt design for a while, based around the “punch line” of our song “Your Love Is“. The problem is, there’s various directions we can go with it, and we can’t decide which way we like best. So we need the help of our fans, friends and minions. (That’s you, most likely)

Take a look at the following designs (NOTE: These are not necessarily finalized designs, but you at least get the idea). Click on any design to see a larger version…

\"Rebus\" Walken "Coloring Book" Walken Walken Design 3

Now, if you would, please vote below IF YOU WOULD BUY ANY OF THESE SHIRT DESIGNS. To be clear: we’re very happy if you like a particular design, but what we need to know is if you would actually give us your hard-earned money (in these uncertain economic times) in exchange for a shirt bearing the image. You can vote for more than one, if you like; you can also select “None of the Above”; what really matters most to us is that you vote honestly.

Thanks in advance for your participation!

I’m not a big Christopher Walken fan, maybe there’s some collective “thing” about which everyone knows that I don’t and should? If that is the case, fill me in, please.

Also not sure if the Christopher Walken thing is over done or not, but the first shirt would be cool.

Oh, jeeze! I couldn’t figure it out, either…
till I went to the song link, above.
Oh my. That’s some visual valentine!

I like the first one…. but I like icons… and clip art… and kittens. What can I say, I’m simple.

I love Christopher Walken, and the cowbell bit is hilarious…

but I think that “your love is cowbell” is not close enough to the “death holds no meaning for me just like Christopher Walken in the end of The Dear Hunter” reference that really ties into the song.

The first may be a bit too obscure. Worse, it could potentially be interpreted as “Your love is Will Ferrell,” and that’s just wrong. The second is too busy. The third, just right. 🙂

Ok, I think all three are hilarious, but don’t they really say “The person you’re in love with is Christopher Walken”, rather than “metaphorically, your love is like Christopher Walken”?

Sorry guys, but I just don’t think this works as a shirt. It needs to have the context and build up of the rest of the song.

I like the last one a lot. VERY classy. ^_^

And, I don’t think that the context from the rest of the song needs to be on the shirt. It’s like you’re wearing an inside joke. I love wearing my Dejected Arrrr shirt for that reason. To the rest of the world, it’s a sad pirate, but every now and then, you’ll run into someone who’s seen the guys live and it’s awesome. ^_^

I like the one on the far left, except without the slogan underneath it; see, then, it would be like a kind of code that only P&S fans would be able to figure out and by which would recognize each other…

But I’m not voting because I’m not really representative of the majority of your fan base, so I will let them speak.

I think the rebus shirt is a bit confusing and too obscure. My wife loves the song, and the two other shirts, but I had to explain the first one to her. Not a good sign.

Let us know when you pick one so we can order them.

Out of the three, I think the black glam does work best, but with one suggestion. Perhaps that heart shape behind him could be broken in two, with the classic zig-zag crack down the middle?

Sorry guys, you know I love buying P&S stuff but while the last 2 proofs made me laugh, I just don’t think they work well for a t-shirt and the 1st one is more referencing the SNL skit than the P&S song. This may sound crazy, but my thought is (and please feel free to disregard my ramblings): If people don’t know the build up to the punchline, I’d almost have to say you should go the highly stylized route, but maybe not as abstract as the 1st one. You still want people to connect the dots between CW and P&S. I’m not sure if that sentence made sense, but in my head it did.

However if someone *did* make a Christopher Walken coloring book, I’d buy it. Especially if it was Arthur Rackham inspired ala the 2nd pic.

To piggy-back on Ann’s thought, I do like the concept of the first design best. The trick is finding an icon that better represents Christopher Walken, and unfortunately, I got nothin’. Well, maybe just his face. Or is that too blatant?

P.S. I also agree with Lena that it would be awesome without the explanation underneath.

I really like the Rebus one because it’s simple (like earlier P&S shirt designs), though I understand people’s concerns with the cowbell. Since we’re referring to Christopher Walken in the Deer Hunter, how about using a gun (e.g., Russian roulette)? If you want really obscure, replace the cowbell with the word “roulette” spelled in Cyrillic. 😉

@Colleenky: A picture of Christopher [Reeves] Walkin’?

I think that they’d do better as Valentine’s cards than T-shirts, and that would also cost buyers less in postage, leaving you free to overcharge them on the product. You could also put an extract of the lyrics in a fancy romantic font in the inside. And while you’re launching a line of greeting cards, why not one for Mothers’ Day?

I definitely wouldn’t buy them as T-shirts (people might think I’m a Christopher Walken fan, whereas the only things I know about him are that life has no meaning for him at the end of The Deer Hunter and he apparently has no actual cows.) But if I had somebody to give them to, I just might might buy the second or third one as a greeting card.

Speaking as a Certified Minion (Centurion Class), I must say that I feel slightly disloyal in that I wouldn’t buy any of them. The song is brilliant, but I don’t think it would work as a T-Shirt. And it’s a little bit gay. Design #3 is the coolest, and is the one I would pick if I Had to choose one. But overall, I wouldn’t go for it.
How about a “Nun Fight” T-Shirt?

Well, I went for “none of the above”, but that’s really depending on whta we’re looking for price-wise. If the shirts were good and cheap, I’d go for the first one with the icons. It’s my fave.

I don’t like Christopher Walken either. Why not have a t-shirt design contest with something other than CW to choose from like JoCo did and let us vote on the one we like the most? So far I have bought all your music but no tshirts- if I don’t fall in love with it, I don’t buy it.

I really like the third option and would definitely buy it. But, I would also probably buy the first if you implemented some of the above suggestions for it (like Lena’s).

    P.S. – No Podcast this week = 🙁

Of the three, I like the simplicity of the “black glam” best, but not enough to buy it. Maybe if there wasn’t such a high probability of having Walkenface on my boob…

I have an alternative design idea for a “Your Love” T-shirt.
I really like the line Your love is a pin through my guts. It could be a picture of a butterfly and within the pattern of the wings put in the imagery of the song

I have a rough example with a subtle Walken pattern.
