Re: Passover Coke, you pretty much had it right. Grain products (other than matzo) are prohibited during Passover under the most stringent rules, since they might possibly have fermented. Corn is indeed a grain. Sugar from cane or beets isn’t from grain and is therefore OK during Passover.

On the subject of Mexican Coke, I have a Mexican gentile friend who visits supermarkets in Jewish neighborhoods around Passover in order to stock up on sugar-sweetened Coke.

I do like Star Wars. Also Empire and Jedi. ::nod:: Do you like Star Trek?

I don’t like any cola — or any other brown soda — but the curiosity factor might tempt me to try Dim-sum Coke.

Welcome to our new co-guest-overlord, Len!

I was disappointed when I got to the end of this episode because I wanted more. I suppose that’s a sign of a great show. Len + Storm = win. (Don’t worry, Paul; we all still love you, too.)

My question for you, P&S, is why don’t you have a FlipFace like all the cool kids?

I agree with Erin….creat Episode and epic Crossover. Ok, maybe epic is a strong word…but these two goliath podcasts merging is Laverne and Shirley/Happy Days crossover worthy…..ok, maybe that’s a bit stong but definitely Night Court/My Two Dads worthy….ummm….for SURE Manimal/Nightman worthy…for sure.

    “Do you like Star Wars?”

    I don’t understand the question.

Paul and Storm and Muppets is the BEST idea. I haven’t watched TV in years* but I would watch that show. Make it happen!

Seriously, hearing that suggestion filled my heart with glee…until I reminded said heart that muppet partnerships are pure conjecture. For now.

Len has a lovely radio voice. I should probably consider listening to his podcast.

    *Probably hyperbole.

I’ve been buying up all the Pepsi Throwback I can find. I’ve got about a 6 month supply. I wish I was joking.

    Hey guys,
Got into this ep and you started talking about a subject that’s one of my big geekdoms.. SODA POP! Working from notes from Cory Doctorows old Open Cola project, me and several friends started Open Soda. We totally reformulated and devised vastly better methodology. We moved the the open soda name because we make much more then cola. We have 3 main flavors of cola along with several other wild varsities of soda. We push about 30 gallons per con about 4 or 5 cons through out the year. Hopefully some time we can be at the same con again and I’ll have my open soda rig so you can try some. We have all the how to’s and recipes and knowledge we have found up on opensoda.org.

Your questions about cola were already answered so i won’t go into that, other then to say you can also get Soda with sugar can in Canada too. It’s pretty much just the US that uses HFCS(Open Soda uses sugar) due to taxes.

I know it’s unlikely, but if you(or any one reading this) wants to know more about how to make soda, let me know. I love talking soda. Thanks (:

I bought a Soda Stream for the family for Christmas. Pretty decent soda. I just wish you could make 2 liters instead of just 1 liter at a time. We go through soda like crazy.

@JackF Do they sell the Pepsi Throwback in 2 liters? I can only find it in 12 packs here but I just don’t drink that much soda anymore 😛

BTW Cheerwine soda made w/ real sugar blows the fake stuff out of the water. If Pepsi throwback is akin to that, sign me up.

You can get Mexican Coke in Texas. You should put it on your rider for the Austin show.

That and Dublin Dr. Pepper (Dr. Pepper made with sugar).
