Grandma’s Christmas Dinner

Christmas Eve Dinner‘Tis now officially the season, and you know what that means: the annual battle for the top Holiday Novelty Song™ to rule the radio airwaves. Granted, the battle isn’t so much “annual” as it is “not been fought in the US since ‘Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer‘ won the title in 1984;” but that doesn’t mean that it’s any less urgent a mission. (Okay, it does; but work with us here, people!)

We humbly present our contribution to the holiday song œuvre: Grandma’s Christmas Dinner“. (Full disclosure: we’ve had this song written for over a year, and have performed it occasionally live, but never got around to recording it until now. Sue us.) Prepare your cockles for warming and your nose for Jack Frost-nippage, as we evoke a wintry land of wonder and family…

This song is kinda NSFW. (Depending on where you work, of course) But if you enjoy it, and don’t get fired, feel free to purchase the song here.

I remember you guys playing a half-written version of this song at a concert in Madison a year or two back, but I thought you’d forgotten about it! Glad to see this song make its triumphant premier!

Quite Extrodinary song! Why, reminds of the days of having to fake enjoy the tastes of my mother’s cooking.

As soon as the chorus started I knew that I had heard this somewhere before. Didn’t you guys perform this on The Bob and Tom Show a year ago? Anyway, great job guys!

Looking forward to hearing this in Philly on Thursday. (Plus I’m renewing my request that Paul do a dramatic reading of Charlie Sheen poetry.)

Sorry, but I must disrespectfully disagree with you boys…the Top Novelty Holiday Song title was not won by “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” but by “Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey” in 1960. The 2 songs had a steel cage match circa winter of 1986 during which Dominick bit Grandma on the arm causing animal control to get involved. It was a bad scene marred by hard feelings and lingering animosity on both sides.

But this, however, is the best song about Grandma cooking family pets ever! (I’ve been trying to remember how it goes since I heard you sing it in September!)
