Paul and Storm Know How to Bring It, Yo

Pollstar is an industry magazine dedicated to concerts, venues, booking agents, and such. It lists concert-related news, tour schedules and, most importantly (at least for the purposes of this post), box office results. Each month, most all "major" venues, and many "somewhat-less-major" and even some "kinda-minor" ones, report attendance and box office grosses for all their shows to Pollstar, which prints them in a list labeled (creatively enough) the Boxoffice Summary.

The Boxoffice Summary is roughly 14 pages long (in small print), and shows are listed in descending order of total grosses. For example, in the October 31, 2005 issue, the Summary is led by Paul McCartney; over the course of four shows at Madison Square Garden between 9/30 and 10/05, Sir Paul sold a total of 63,867 tickets, priced $50 to $994.50, for a total gross of $8,495,513. Not too shabby, you old Liverpudlian.

Now, if one were to read through the next 14 pages, to the very bottom of the Summary (a scant 717 spots below McCartney), one might find a familiar name...

That's right, y'all; Pizzle and Stizzay* took it to the house in Urbana, IL back on September 21st, selling 15 tickets for a total gross of $120, placing us us dead last on the Boxoffice Summary. Put that in your smoke-hole and roll it around, suckers.

Now, we acknowledge that this is...somewhat smaller than the numbers Master McCartney racked up; but we would point out that he had four shows, whereas we only had one. If we'd done three more shows in Urbana, we figure that it would have closed the gap. Plus, we have better bo staff skills than he does.

So anyway, we knew we just had to share this great news with all of you, our fans; we're on the same list as Paul-friggin'-McCartney! How sweet is that**?

Our pride is showing,

Paul (and Storm)

*Sorry 'bout that; won't happen again.
** It's very, very sweet.
