You are _almost_ correct about Cosmos(paraphrasing) “nobody making that level of science that accessible before”. Actually, Jacob Bernowski did it 6 years before that with “The Ascent of Man” (Also based on a book http://www.amazon.com/Ascent-Man-5-set/dp/B000NDI3SK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1254010790&sr=8-2) and that documentary is frequently cited by other science documentarians (Dawkins, Shermer, some others…) as being inspirational in showing them what could be done with the medium. When you watch it (because you want to), you will see how it may have influenced Cosmos and lots of other things. (It also has a Pink Floyd song in it, like Cosmos, if you spotted it.) Have fun with Cosmos, it is a great gift for anyone curious.

If you’re a fan of Alton Brown I highly, highly recommend getting either of his books “I’m Just Here For the Food” and “I’m Just Here For More Food”. They read just like an episode of “Good Eats” : part cookbook, part science textbook with a bunch of smart-ass comments written in the margins. Insanely informative and entertaining. Bonus: the 1st one comes with magnets shaped like cuts of meat. Meat magnets! How can you not love that??

Okay, I know I said it on the post for “I Will Sing a Lullabye,” but I have to reiterate that all of the musical cock teasing was well worth it. The song has firmly implanted itself as my new ear worm. And I’m excited for (and a little jealous of) everyone who gets to go to w00tstock. Oh, and for you, too, P&S. It’s definitely an awesome announcement. BTW, I like Cybermudgeon’s idea of a DVD. Or streaming/YouTube/dramatic reenactments. I’m not picky.

I also agree with Tam’s ideas re: blind minions, w00tstock in Chicago, and hour long podcasts. Smart minion you have there.

In honor of Acknowledgment Day I hugged my redheaded husband. I refrained from calling him a bitch, though.

By the way, does anyone else have a weird skip near the end (~4:10) of their copy of “Lullabye”? Or is it just mine?

I found your comparison of Good Eats to MythBusters to be inferior (although it did make for a decent segue), as I think that Good Eats is much more similar to Bill Nye The Science Guy. Funnily enough, that ties back in with Cosmos and Mr. Wizard.

Regarding the blind minions, why not just have a movie with their recorded audio, and a static image of the minion logo for the video (maybe doctor the logo to say “Ethereal Audio Only Minion” or something)?

Also looking forward to the show at PAX! Why don’t you guys and Wil Wheaton get together and do some sort of w00tstock 0.9 beta release sometime at PAX too (I’m, of course, assuming you won’t at all be too busy, since PAX is such a small venue and all)?

Happy Acknowledgment Day! In celebration, I think we should all go watch the first episode of The Guild season 3. After all, it does guest-star his honor, The Secretary. I so wish I could attend w00tstock. It has at least four of my favorite famous geeks. Darn my being on the wrong coast! I think having a video of the blind minions would be cool, but I suppose a video camera presents the same problem as a still camera... I'll need to think about that one some more.

For @CarolinaWolfie and @Dave728NC, I suggest that the power of the minions and be mobilized to take photos of them and post them to Flickr.

@strobist’s (strobist.com) multitude of followers could also be taken advantage of so that said pictures are of the classy and/or artsy variety. This wouldn’t be the first time David has motivated his followers to shoot for the goodness of mankind.

If @CarolinaWolfie and @Dave728NC are in the Seattle area, I volunteer to do this myself. But their Twitter handles imply they’re in North Carolina, a place where I do not plan to be in the near future.
