I don’t know if y’all are Zappa fans or not, but check out the track Panty Rap on the Tinseltown Rebellion album. Seems he had a similar panty quilt project back in the late 70s/early 80s.

Hey, if donating his used underwear and then claiming them as a charitable deduction was good enough for former President Clinton (geez I hope they were washed first…)then you guys should follow his example and do the same. Besides, I have cherished imagining the reaction of the person finding that pair of “boobie indicator panties” since I tossed them.
A quilt sounds like fun too though.

A girl I worked with who was an art major in college did an underwear quilt as her senior project. She collected the underwear from random people in and around the college town and received some local press, then created a quilt with it which was later seriously exhibited at a local REAL art gallery. I spoke with her RE this and she received a few offers signifying considerable interest in the quilt. Go figure…

Well congrats to Gillian for taking up the project of the panty quilt! I wonder where one finds a pattern for that kind of project? I’m sure it will become a cherished heirloom in the Storm household for generations

Sadly, the podcast doesn’t download or stream beyond about 30 minutes or 35MB, depending on whether you’re streaming or downloading. I rely on these podcasts to give me the insight I require to cure cancer, work for world peace and stuff like that.

It would be lovely if the file was checked and possibly replaced on the server so I could hear the end. Donating to the cause is more rewarding when you can hear the end of the thing you’re trying to listen to.

I’m with Gina; I was surprised to hear that you throw them out. Not that I expected you kept them, but I assumed you donated them. So, three cheers for Gillian and the quilt! And Mark, I’ve seen thrift stores that do sell second-hand panties (and some have clearly been worn before).

Also, quasi-related to the podcast a few weeks ago, while on my way home from my road trip last week I saw a kind of drive-thru I’d never seen before: a drive-thru liquor/convenience store.

Road trip games! My brother and I used to balance cookies on the end of our fingers out the window – pointing toward the front of the car with the cookie held in place by the force of the wind. Good times.

I am shocked that you THROW out the panties. I mean, you don’t really throw them in the trash, do you? You don’t donate them to your local thrift store? You said yourselves that rarely if ever do they appear worn.

Although I guess the embarrassment of bringing a hefty bag full of women’s panties to a thrift store might be more that you could bear.

As a web nerd I had to check this new server you're using, and it returned Apache/2.2, which is terrific. Apache, FTW. The problem with the iPhone is not the network (though being locked in to a network is problematic), the problems involve basic freedoms, privacy, and security. In the mean time, you can try something like Ekiga which is a replacement for the very anti-privacy, pro monitoring, censoring, and general ickyness nature of Skype. A few more are listed here under "Free software replacement for Skype and a large list of telephony apps is here - there's plenty of terrific VOIPy software that you can use and be safe using.

I’m intrigued by the idea of an underwear quilt. I’m planning a quilt made from my old commemorative t-shirts from high school and college, but underwear would be really strange and impressive. Speaking of which, when are you coming back to Boston so we can contribute some more to the collection?
