I was digging through my parents’ attic over the holidays and there, buried in a box, I found my autographed picture of MacGyver! Oh yeah, that puppy was tacked to my wall for many a year and damned if I hadn’t thought I’d lost it years ago!

A bit of a sad epilogue, though – we had a house fire when I was 15, and the water from the fire hoses washed away a lot of the stuff on my walls, as I had been using water-soluble markers. A lot of years of neat stuff, gone with nary a trace.

By the by, being hit in the face with a pie could be deadly to one of my roommates, if it was topped with meringue. He’s rather allergic to eggs.

Right now I just have a few little things on my wall. I have a hole in the wall from when my temper wasn’t so controlled. It’s nut a full hole, per se, like you can’t see the room over, but it’s significant enough that it’s not flat. Not like the world, I guess.

I think the shoe is funny, only because you can make the Austin Powers references like “Who throws a shoe? Honestly!” Also a shoe, just the way he threw it, it had that thing where it had that kind of spininess to it.

Lasagna would funny if it were cooked, but like not hot. Because it would burn, and that’s no fun.

When we were young, my sister’s and my room was pretty basic girly. I know we had pink walls at one time, but I think that was actually when we were older, or maybe even after I moved out. Anyway, At some point in the early 80′s our parents let us write and draw all over the ceiling with markers. The only things I remember that was up there were crude drawings of Opus and Bill the Cat. My sister had him saying “BLECH”, except she misspelled it “BLEACH”. That was right above my bed for a few years.

I decorated my little corner by my bed with my white bean bag chair and a heart shaped pillow with my name on it, Beatles posters, and since I didn’t have (because they didn’t exist) any Weird Al or Dr. Demento posters, I put little nails in the wall and put the albums on the wall by letting one corner fall between two nails, so they hung tilted to the side – lined up were my 3 Dr. Demento albums and 3 or 4 of Al’s.

An Empty Space Where a Paul & Storm Poster Would Go

In the 70s, I had a poster of the King Tut sarcophagus, and a poster collage of Donny and Marie. (You may or may not remember that I posted a comment a while back about my wonderful Donny and Marie play set. I was a huge fan.) My older sister’s half of the room was covered with pictures of Lee Majors, Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood.

I had my own room in the early 80s, and since I was a preteen, my bedroom was of course filled with many rainbows and unicorns. Somewhere along the way, I acquired a poster of Heaven Can Wait and hung it up. Why? I don’t know. I also had an awesome Tolkein-themed wall calendar, which I think stayed up long after it was useful. (I might even still have it.) And, because I was an utter Tolkein dork, I drew my own illustration of “Farewell to Lorien,” with Galadriel waving good-bye and her entire song written out in elvish.
