Since you're moving Twiki to "Brady Bunch", let's replace him with Bender from "Futurama". Lead guy from our time trying to figure out the future, hot chick who's a better pilot ... on second thought, they're already the same show.

In the same vein as The Office and the failed attempt at and American Red Dwarf, one of the networks (NBC, I think) tried to do an American version of Coupling several years ago. It was awful and only lasted a few weeks, but the only thing they changed was some of the slang. The first episode used the same script as the British original, but it wasn't half as funny.

I don't think any sitcom remake could live up to my nostalgic childhood memories, but I'd love to see an updated Family Ties. Sha-la-la-la!

Has anyone brought up "The New Odd Couple," from the 80's which was a direct remake, only with an African-American cast? (Firefly fans take note, Ron Glass played Felix.)

Oh, and as for sitcoms I'd want to see remade: "Soap."

Been mulling over these topics since last week and had a lengthy conversation about it with my buddy Moose over the weekend. We decided that any sitcom remade during the Civil War could be either potentially awesome (M*A*S*H) or horrifyingly bad (The Love Boat). We also decided that we'd like to see Bob Saget from his stand up take the place of his character in Full House. Think about how much more entertaining that show could be with some raunchiness and nasty humor. At the very least, it might be more bearable.

And now that I've spent far more time thinking about Bob Saget than is healthy for anyone, I'm going to shut up. :|

@Ann, I have this visual of your house with all the cooking going on and Ray Liotta is doing the voiceover, but he keeps complaining about this helicopter that's following him.

There is something that I would like to propose to you. Towards the end of the podcast, please announce to the listening public the title and artist of the song that you guys play. I had to do an EXTENSIVE search to finally find "She's Dead" by Jim's Big Ego. I'm talking a good few hours before I was finally able to find out that information. That would be helpful.

A few ideas for the sitcom remake. WKRP in Cincinnati. Get Jamie Pressley to play Lonnie Anderson's character. Another idea would be Three's Company. Although, I've struggled with trying to find someone who does physical humor to the same level that John Ritter was able to accomplish.

Hey, I'm not sure what the update schedule of the actual RSS podcast feed (i.e. that what iTunes, et al subscribe to) is, but I was just wondering if you guys knew that it hasn't updated with this episode yet. As in, it still thinks the latest show is #012.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Awww, I'm glad you guys liked the story about my Mom's meatballs in the morning. Did I mention there were also sausage and peppers being cooked at the same time? Most would end up in the sauce to cook all day, but man, those first ones right out of the pan...I don't care how old I get, it was the best way to wake up, ever. I shared the audio clip w/ my Mom and Sis and they got a laugh out of it. Unfortunately, I now have to wait until I visit at Christmas for the annual 'spend all day cooking Italian stuff day'. Damn.

I'd like to see Hogan's Heroes, except where the prisoner's characters are replaced by the main characters of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The entire dynamic of Hogan's Heroes where the prisoners always pull off their risky scheme almost flawlessly would be completely reversed to where you have them trying to pull of the most convoluted stunt in the most depraved way possible and utterly failing at achieving anything. Bonus points if their antics end up creating an alternate timeline in which Germany wins World War II.

I thought I'd point out that Black Adder kind of did the whole same-sitcom, different-time-periods thing, and did it splendidly.

I would like to see Fawlty Towers again; but maybe that's just because I thought the show never had enough seasons in the first place. If they can't get John Cleese back for it, maybe Eddie Izzard could play Basil?

Speaking of NPR... Since your comedy is occaisionally current events-based, I expect to hear you guys on 'Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me!' someday. If the Comfort Food segment continues its popularity, I could also imagine a guest spot on 'The Splendid Table'.

BTW, My comfort food would have to be my mom's meatloaf.

I think a good one to remake (and extend with the same writers) would be Firefly.

Someone to be dropped would be "Evie" from Desperate Housewives into Leave It To Beaver.

An American version of Red Dwarf would be sure to be a hit, even though it probably wouldn't be as good as the original (The Office is a rare exception for UK crossover shows). They could start it up as a spin-off from characters that would show up in a small story arc in the Big Bang Theory (one of the best sitcoms on American TV right now).

There's a little known gem from the '70's starring Richard Benjamin called Quark. It was essentially a Star Trek Parody with Benjamin in the "Kirk" role captaining an intergalactic garbage truck.

With modern CGI and Hi-Def, just think of the space garbage!

Hey, you guys were mega-awesome at Schuba's on Friday.

Paul, you were very yummy even with the uber-dorky t-shirt. Except when you were admonishing the crowd for not being larger....

Storm, you might be interested to know the Sno-Balls will not result in a manslaughter charge, since I gave them to someone else. Yay lack of manslaughter charges!

I look forward to listening (I downloaded manually since it didn't show up in iTunes for me yet). What would an Alf remake be like, I wonder?

Have fun over there,
- Carrie
