I was confused for a few minutes there and was wondering what on earth Storm was going on about: I had figured I'd just never seen Paul without his glasses on...

What are you talking about? That looked exactly like Paul! I was shocked (Shocked, I tell you!) to find out it was only a sock puppet.

For a second I was almost half-expecting "WE'LL DO IT LIVE! WE'LL... DO IT LIVE!" from Storm.... oh well.

I don't know how serious this hard drive crash is, but for hard drive crashes the nerd in me recommends SpinRite.

You do have to somehow get your hard drive into a PC you Mac user (I assume) which I think you can do by "cabling" the drive to a PC. In short, run the program, use it to create a bootable image of your choice (I usually do an ISO then burn it to a CD - making it bootable, but you can put one on a floppy or even like a thumb drive if you wish - it's assembly language, after all, so the whole huge program, including FreeDOS is in kilobytes).

http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7684 is a good review from Linux folks, with good screen shots, and mentions that the little EXE works fine in Wine (or CrossOver, Darwine - for Mac, etc).

Anyone else notice that Paul is looking - dare I say it - a little green?

Actually, Paul is probably getting worried - who knew it would be so easy to replace him? It's like when the Beatles replaced Paul McCartney after he died in a car crash in 1966. (And did you know that if you play Cruel, Cruel Moon backwards it sounds suspiciously like "Noom Leurc Leurc", which is bad Esperanto for "The Sock Is In Charge"?)
