Come Watch Storm Eat an Entire Fudgie the Whale!

Yes, you read that right.

So, funny story…late last night (Monday), Storm noticed that our Twitter feed was just a couple hundred followers shy of 10,000. So he did what any normal person would do: challenged Twitter that, if we passed the 10k follower mark before 12 noon EST today, he would attempt to eat an entire Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake.

Twitter knows a good thing when they see it, and so we passed the 10k mark before 8:30 am. And since Storm is a man of his word, he is following through with his promise, and shall attempt to eat an entire Fudgie the Whale this Thursday, April 1st. (We thought the date most appropriate.)

And now, the fine folks at ThinkGeek have agreed to host the entire event, which will be streamed live on our Ustream account. And YOU COULD WIN A TICKET TO SEE THE WHOLE THING LIVE. [UPDATE: sorry–tix have all been assigned!]

There will be a tweetup audience of 35 lucky geeks cheering Storm on at  ThinkGeek HQ in Fairfax, VA, and he’ll commence eating at 8 p.m.  EST. The event will be broadcast live on our Ustream channel, MC’d by Paul himself starting at 7:45 p.m. EST, and it will be live-tweeted by Geek Dad‘s Matt Blum on a special @FudgieThon feed.

UPDATE: follow all of the Battle Fudgie / FudgieThon Twitter feeds from one handy Twitter list!

As if watching Storm attempt to devour a 12-serving chocolate ice cream cake weren’t enough, there will be contests for viewers and live attendees alike throughout the event, with prizes provided by ThinkGeek, Carvel and Storm’s local Arlington Carvel Ice Cream & Bakery. Follow ThinkGeek’s Twitter feed during the event to participate (Ustream viewing is not required.) So EVERYBODY WINS! (Except Storm’s tummy, of course; may the spirit of Adam Richman be with him.)

Many thanks to Carrie and everyone at ThinkGeek for helping put this all together so quickly. Together we can unite to DESTROY FUDGIE THE WHALE*!

*You’ve been generous and a great sport, but sorry, Fudgie–you’re still gonna get all eated up.

DOUBLE-SECRET UPDATE: because we feel guilty about one of us gobbling up a whole cake when many of our neighbors can’t afford to feed themselves properly (especially now), we’ve decided to harness this Awesome to raise money for a food bank. Will the shenanigans be saved on ustream for later viewing? You have scheduled this right in the middle of my final exam, when I will be miles from the internet, digging holes in the woods.

We think so, yes. We’ll be testing the system between now and then, and if it’s possible to save it for later viewing, we will.

Seconding Sara’s request — I’m way out in CA and 5pm ET is not a good online time for me… so I’m hopeful that the recording goes well. I know it’s possible on Ustream, but can be problematic. (Problematic is my RNC Robocaller cover band)

oops, 5PM PT of course … and yes I realize it’s 5:17PM PT right now, and here I am online… but a quick post (or 2) at work vs. a whole Ustream session at work? I’m forced to protect my paycheck.

Aw, I totally would enter, but I wouldn’t be able to go. But Storm, I’m worried you’ll gain back all the weight you lost in one fell swoop!

YES! I won a ticket! Woo! This will be epic. Storm, do you need me to bring anything? Rally sign? Napkins? 2 gallons of Pepto Bismol?

And good on ya for supporting AFAC!

I’ll be there! I cannot get a pirate costume on such short notice, though, so I’m just going to dress for maximum ridiculousness. I’ll show up with Doctor Who scarf, Indiana Jones hat, and of course Sonic Screwdriver.
