That is, if by “Pixar” we mean “computer animation not actually done by Pixar,” and by “movie” we mean “43-second short film.”

But we couldn’t be more excited if it were a Pixar film; animator Bonnie Rose—some among you may be familiar with her work, as she won the original Colbert Report Green Screen Challenge—has gone and animated our song “If James Taylor Were on Fire“. Check it:

We especially love how she took the time to get the chords and finger-picking correct. Awesome. Bonnie has done other great work as well; check it out, and tell her how great she is.

Not one, but two pictures, for a total of 2,000 words…

<img style="border: 0pt none;" src="http://www.paulandstorm.com/wp-content/uploads/image/EINSTIEN_VS_MONKEY.jpg" alt="Einstein vs. monkeys.
Spiff has made numerous music videos for Jonathan’s songs, using images from World of Warcraft. (Find all his videos here) Well, now he’s done a WoW video for our song "Live". (Which is appropriate, seeing as the song was meant to sound as if Coulton had written it)

The video is currently entered in a contest to be judged by the folks at WeGame. Spiff says he’ll post it on his YouTube channel once the contest ends.

Not only did he perfectly capture the spirit of the song, but Spiff managed to add an extra layer of pathos to the ending. Plus a big fight scene. (Fight scenes are awesome) Now we feel that much more like geek rock stars. Kudos—both the conceptual and the granola bar versions—to Spiff!

Also, there’s some references to a previous video he made for JoCo; go watch that, and then feel extra-proud for getting all the inside jokes.

We now have visions of college sophomores across the world sitting on their various quads, lamely trying to seduce young women by singing our song to them.
Thanks, everyone; this weekend, we just passed 100 demands on our Eventful account.

And what is Eventful? Well, see that blue box over there on the right? That links to a page where you can "demand" that we appear in your town/city/locality/prefecture. It’s a great way for us to judge where we should tour; the more demands in a place, the more people likely to actually show up when we get there. Easy peasie. And as fun and funny as our songs are, we’re even more enjoyable live and in-person. Better than 1,000 Fonzies. And wouldn’t it be great if 1,000 Fonzies came to your town?

So thanks again; you like us! You really like us!

It is no secret that our latest obsession has been throwing snack cakes at the audience for whatever reasons we feel like. (Usually for particularly funny or insightful comments, or for throwing panties during "Opening Band"). At our Northampton show last week, Storm made a joke that everyone had to step up their game if they were to receive more snack cakes–like compose haiku or something.

Two songs later, guess what?

Ask and ye shall receive. For added bonus points, these were written on the back of an envelope.

For those having trouble reading them (because it’s a terrible scan):

Paul and Storm’s Haiku
Paul and Storm are cool
Playing funny songs for laughs
Hardballing snack cakes.

#2
Gently strum guitars
Next time I’m throwing panties
To get said snack cakes.

We have the best fans, like, ever.

Some pix from the Schubas extravaganza can be found here (thanks, Liza!) and here (courtesy of Dan, who celebrated his birthday with a trip to our show, and a stop to visit the hot dog Muffler Man in Atlanta, IL. Way to live on the edge, Dan!).

Coming up after the holiday weekend, two shows in NY that we’re really looking forward to: Friday at the Auburn Public Theater in Auburn, NY; and Saturday at the Edwards Opera House in St. Lawrence County, NY. Hey, Canadian PaulandStormtroopers: this is as close as we’re getting to you for a while, so please represent. We’re lookin’ at you, Ottawa!

Here’s some more us-related links, for those who can’t get enough of us:

Some more great performance pictures on flickr:

from our show in Baltimore with Jonathan Coulton (courtesy of Sam)

us, Jonathan, and Sometymes Why in Dayton, OH December ’06 (courtesy of CarrieLu)

a number of shots of us in various places in the Midwest in the past few months (courtesy of Russ and Cheryl)

Also, here’s video evidence of the Da Vinci’s Notebook "mini-reunion" at our Jammin’ Java in VA show this past March. In other news, Paul isn’t wearing that shirt tucked in ever again, or at least until he loses 25 pounds. (Language not safe for work)

RevBigHead continues to upload video to YouTube from his super-cool two-camera video shoot of our last NYC show (again with Jonathan Coulton, as well as ukulele..ler Kristen Shirts). Here’s the collection so far.

Finally, here is a commercial for the marketed-to-boys "My Buddy" doll from back in the ’80s. Just try and get the jingle out of your head now, ha ha.

Our friend Len at Jawbone Radio (who did the cover art for News to Us) has a lot of kids. It would seem that those kids have inherited their father’s talent for illustration—four of them have drawn us as LEGO figures. This is awesome in ways we can’t adequately describe, so we’ll just include them below. Click on any picture to see the larger version, or just go straight to the full Flickr set. John Paul, Max, PJ and Siena, you rock thoroughly and completely.
