You can find all of Spiff’s videos (including the ones he did for our songs “Live” and “The Captain’s Wife’s Lament“) on his website or on the “Spiffworld” YouTube channel.

But we couldn’t be more excited if it were a Pixar film; animator Bonnie Rose—some among you may be familiar with her work, as she won the original Colbert Report Green Screen Challenge—has gone and animated our song “If James Taylor Were on Fire“. Check it:

We especially love how she took the time to get the chords and finger-picking correct. Awesome. Bonnie has done other great work as well; check it out, and tell her how great she is.

Merlin Mann—he of the 43 Folders and the You look Nice Today and the Twitters and whatnot—has taken our meta-textual tribute to Randy Newman, The 25 Days of Newman, and gone one meta-step further by recording a tribute to our tribute. Go here and listen to his original creation, “Everybody Likes Paul and Storm (In America)”. (“Inbox Zero? More like WIN-box Zero!” [SLAP!] “Sorry.”)

Meanwhile, monster maker-slash-podcaster-slash-friend of the band Len Peralta has drawn yet another Rectangle of Awesomeness; this time, it’s a promotional poster for “Monkey Shines“, the mostly-lost TV show we did with Jonathan Coulton a couple decades ago. Wow; it seems like it was only yesterday…

Not one, but two pictures, for a total of 2,000 words…

For the record, Einstein kicked the monkeys’ butts.

He’s done the same for the RiffTones song of the same name. Len is a scary, scary man.

Because the song is so phenomenally awesome, it cannot be contained in a single video, so he’s split the lesson into two parts (Part 1 and Part 2). Thanks, Dave—both for liking the song enough to include it in the series, and for rocking the cool Batman t-shirt during the lesson.

The "Ook Ook pile of ashes" is exactly how we pictured it. Thanks yet again, Len!

Spiff has made numerous music videos for Jonathan’s songs, using images from World of Warcraft. (Find all his videos here) Well, now he’s done a WoW video for our song "Live". (Which is appropriate, seeing as the song was meant to sound as if Coulton had written it)

The video is currently entered in a contest to be judged by the folks at WeGame. Spiff says he’ll post it on his YouTube channel once the contest ends.

Not only did he perfectly capture the spirit of the song, but Spiff managed to add an extra layer of pathos to the ending. Plus a big fight scene. (Fight scenes are awesome) Now we feel that much more like geek rock stars. Kudos—both the conceptual and the granola bar versions—to Spiff!

Also, there’s some references to a previous video he made for JoCo; go watch that, and then feel extra-proud for getting all the inside jokes.

He’s a big hit with the ladies, he already knows the lyrics to one of our songs, and he’s easy to get along with. (as long as we remember to cut the crusts off his bologna sandwiches) Check him out…

He has now given us the same treatment, posting a quick lesson on how to play our song "A Better Version of You". This makes him that much more super in our eyes. Thanks, Dave! We now have visions of college sophomores across the world sitting on their various quads, lamely trying to seduce young women by singing our song to them. And that makes us happy.

And what is Eventful?  Well, see that blue box over there on the right? That links to a page where you can "demand" that we appear in your town/city/locality/prefecture. It’s a great way for us to judge where we should tour; the more demands in a place, the more people likely to actually show up when we get there. Easy peasie. And as fun and funny as our songs are, we’re even more enjoyable live and in-person. Better than 1,000 Fonzies. And wouldn’t it be great if 1,000 Fonzies came to your town?

So thanks again; you like us! You really like us!

Not to single out one show above others—all our children are our favorites—but we’d especially like to thank the crowd from our show at Schubas Tavern in Chicago, which singlehandedly nearly doubled the size of the Gallery of Thrown Panties with a veritable deluge of undergarments. A plethora, even. Like I said, superhero rock stars.
